TEA LEAVES

Tea Party Tea Leaves - October 17, 2016

The Our October TEA Party meeting opened in prayer by Henry Horton and the pledges to the American and Texas flags. County clerk, Linda Jarvis, gave voter information and new regulations.  Early voting starts Monday, Oct 24.  Please exercise your right to vote.

State Senator Bob Hall gave a presentation on securing the Texas Grid.  Experts have warned for decades that our nation's electric grid is vulnerable to physical, cyber and electromagnetic (EMP) threats.  However, unlike physical and cyber, the threat from an EMP to the nation's electric grid has been all but ignored by government and the electric industry.

Thankfully, Texas has the unique ability to secure our portion of the electric grid from the EMP threat.  The Republican Party of Texas has recognized this opportunity and on May 13th voted to urge the Texas Legislature to pass legislation that will harden the Texas electric grid against cyber-attacks on the grid's computerized command and control system, physical attacks on substations and high voltage transformers, geomagnetic storms created by solar flares from the sun, and man-made EMP.

Make your voice heard.  We can all voice our support for securing the Texas electric grid by calling: Governor Greg Abbott 512 463-2000, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick  512 463-0001, Public Utility Commission  512 936-7000 and Electric Reliability Council of Texas  512 225-7000.
We closed the meeting prayer led by Henry Horton.  Announcements:   Allen West will be in Corsicana at the Cook Center at Navarro College on Thursday, Oct. 27.  (For information, call Ralph Gonzales 903 830-0723)

This meeting was the last for 2016.  The Freestone County TEA Party wishes everyone a happy, blessed Thanksgiving and Christmas!  We appreciate all who have supported our efforts!  We will post information in the paper and on our web site (freestonecountyteaparty.org) for meetings in 2017.

Thank you for your support.

Tea Party Tea Leaves - September 19, 2016

The Freestone County TEA Party Meeting opened with a passionate prayer by Henry Horton and the pledges to the American and Texas flags.  There was a large and lively crowd.  We went right into the introduction of candidates for Commissioner Precinct 1; Andy Bonner and Gerald Manning, followed by candidates for Commissioner Precinct 3; Michael Daniels and Cooper Daniel.  Each candidate had five minutes to speak.  An energetic question and answer session finished the meeting which closed in prayer by Henry Horton.

The Freestone County TEA Party is a grassroots, conservative, non-partisan organization dedicated to educating citizens and assisting them to become more informed, involved and active in the political process.  We believe in Constitutionally Limited Government, Fiscal Responsibility and Free Markets.  We support the Constitution of The United States and The Texas Constitution.  We do not endorse or support candidates.  We are non-profit and operate on donations only.

The FCTP will host Senator Bob Hall at our Monday, October 17 meeting speaking on The Texas Power Grid. Please mark your calendar!
